Minke Whales breaching off Galley Head this week
West Cork's reputation as the whale-watching capital of Ireland grew again this week, with sightings of minke whales breaching off Galley Head.
Tom Collins of Sea Angling Charters, (seaanglingcharters.ie) based at Union Hall, captured some wonderful footage of the whales just off the coast, on Monday.
'We had a bit of a treat today on a short whale watching trip,' he said. 'Between Union Hall and Galley Head, we had harbour porpoises, common dolphins and four minke whales. Another group of dolphins greeted us at Galley Head,' he told The Southern Star.
