Michael Dwyer Music Festival Allihies 6th - 8th June
From June 6th to June 8th the people living in Allihies in the Beara peninsula will be celebrating the life of Michael Dwyer, the gifted composer and performer of traditional Irish music.
Over the three days of the festival traditional irish music will he heard spilling out of the pubs in Allihies. Other traditional arts will be displayed, with Irish dancing taking place on the Saturday. Michael Dwyer apparently loved a good music session and that is what this festival is comprised of. There is also an accordion workshop and tin whistle, accordion and miscellaneous instrument competitions.
This is a weekend of remembrance, celebration and music that locals and visitors alike can enjoy.
