West Cork Chamber Music Festival 27th June - 5th July

West Cork carries on the tradition that began in the palace chambers of England in Medieval times. Chamber music is seen as an intimate performance, traditionally involving a small number of players and instruments (just enough to fit into a palace chamber) and their audience. The main concert venue of the festival; Bantry House, and all of the other venues have been chosen for their ability to convey this atmospheric intimacy.

For nine days listeners can enjoy both well-known and obscure classical music ranging from the sixteenth to the twenty first centuries, including well-known pieces and new music. As well as the performances there are masterclasses, instrument making workshops, instrument making exhibitions and morning talks with the festival musicians.

This is an event that has people returning to it over and over again.
