When the German cruise ship Amadea docked in Bantry Bay its 600 passengers and 300 crew found musicians and tourism ambassadors waiting on the pier in Glengariff to welcome them. Their enthusiastic welcome to the West Cork coastal town was due to Cork County Council and local tourism groups coming together to try to attract more cruise liners to West Cork. As a part of this initiative journalists from Cruise Business Review toured around West Cork to get a taste of what the region has to offer its visitors.

While on their seven day stay they were brought to some of the scenic spots here in West Cork, including touring the peninsulas: The Ring of Beara and Sheepshead Peninsula . They also left the coast behind them and headed out to two of the beautiful islands, Garnish and Sherkin , located a short boat ride from the mainland. Their coastal activities continued when they made their way to the fishing village of Union Hall , from where they took a boat out to engage in a popular activity for tourists to West Cork, whale watching. At Lough Hyne they took part in another activity very popular with both locals and visitors to the area, cycling , which is a wonderful way to get out to see the West Cork countryside.

West Cork has more to offer than just its marvellous scenery and so this trip also introduced Cruise Business Review to some of the delicious food, charming accommodation and fascinating history which can be found in West Cork
