Working from his studio in Skibbereen, Kieran Higgins passionately creates unique, character driven pieces, fashioned exclusively from Irish native hardwood and ancient bog timbers.

Taking delight in the 'imperfections of nature' tales of trial and endurance, of decay and damage written in the timber, are eagerly emphasized, giving each piece a sense of attachment to the tree it was hewed from.

His greatest passion is specializing in the use our 'Bog Timbers', usually Oak. Drawn to these, initially by their great age and uniqueness to Ireland. Some of these great trees were mature long before our ancient ancestors set foot on this island. Laying cocooned for millennia under layers of peat, they are now some of the oldest timbers in the world today. Kieran fuses these ancient dark timbers with their splits, cracks and rough edges into today's contemporary styling, some are further enhanced with addition of silver, each possessing a distinct character with a sense of identity. They physically allow us to touch our distant past.
