Irish entrepreneurial spirit in EU

An Irish firm is in the running for a prestigious European award.

Established in 2012 to drive entrepreneurship in the south west, Cork Innovates is up for a European Enterprise Promotion Awards (EEPA) which recognises public bodies and public-private partnerships which support entrepreneurship.

The number of start-ups in Cork has almost doubled since then, from 800 in 2012 to 1,542 in 2013.
