Surrounded and sheltered by over twenty islands and with a mild climate supported by the Gulf Stream, Schull is undoubtedly one of the best sailing areas in Ireland. The Fastnet Marine Outdoor Education Centre is a hive of activity during the summer months offering a wide variety of sailing activities for both children and adults. Five day dinghy sailing courses run from the end of June until August and are suitable for all ages from 8 years upwards (although the majority of sailors tend to be children and young adults) and for all skill levels. For groups of adults (up to five), two and five day sailing courses are run, subject to demand, on the Centre's 1720 keelboat. Lisselan Golf Club, Gardens & Fishing

The gardens designed in the Robinson Style were laid out by the Bence-Jones family in the mid 1800's to take advantage of the natural features and contours provided by the valley and the Argideen river running through it. The old walled garden has been transformed into a Fuchsia garden with many exotic species of Fuchsia being imported from all over the world. Golf Club: In 2004, Lisselan Golf Club has been formed with the course open to green fees and members, seven days a week. The par 72 layout (nine holes played from different tee boxes) consists of 4 par 5, 4 par 3 and 10 par 4 holes. The course has many unique features such as getting on specially modified railcar from green to tee on two prestigious holes and taking a ferry across the Argideen river to reach the dramatic and picturesque 8(17th) green! Great membership offers now available. Fishing: River fishing for salmon and sea trout on the best private stretches of the river Argideen. One mile of double bank fishing with 10 named pools and a mile of single bank fishing. The river has one of the best wild, naturally reproducing stocks of salmon and sea-trout in the south-west of Ireland. Lisselan is Open 7 days 8am - dusk. Drimoleague Walkways

A large sign on the approach to Drimoleague describes the village as being "the heart of West Cork". We believe this well describes the place. The distinctiveness that causes West Cork to be known as "a place apart" can be found here in full blossom, yet it remains largely undiscovered by the average visitor, who prefers to keep nearer to the coast.
