Show Off Your Sandcastle Building Skills In Rosscarbery
Hundreds of visitors are expected to descend on Rosscarbery next week as the West Cork town's annual family festival celebrates its 59th year. Traditional favourites will continue to feature at the event, running from Friday, August 8th to Sunday, August 17th, with mouse racing kicking off festivities on the Friday night at O'Briens Bar. There will also be pig racing in the square on Monday, August 11th at 9pm; a dog show at Nolan's Bar on Wednesday, August 13th at 6.30pm; and a children's open air disco on Thursday, August 14th at 8pm. The popular sandcastle and sand sculpture competition takes place on Tuesday, August 12th at Warren Beach and the Family Funday Sunday at the Celtic Ross Hotel returns this year, and includes a puppet show, live music, a barbecue and face painting.
New additions to this year's festival include The Cube - Rosscarbery Style on Tuesday, August 12th at 8pm; a 20km fun cycle on Saturday, August 9th leaving at 2pm and a car treasure hunt on Saturday, August 16th at the square from 4pm to 7pm. Other highlights include the new Voice of Rosscarbery singing competition taking place throughout the week and the Celtic Cottages Monster Rag Parade on Sunday, August 10th at 8.30pm. In total over 40 events will take place of the course of the week.
