Talks over beach bans

Cork Co Council and the Health Service Executive (HSE) are liaising over a number of bathing restriction notices on local beaches.

Strands in West Cork's Beara peninsula and in East Cork were subject to bathing restrictions over the past week amid concern over high bacterial content in some water samples.

Council officials are now taking daily water samples and are checking with the HSE over when bathing restriction notices should safely be removed.
