With a family history of chocolate making in Europe, Maitiu and Karola O Conaill started producing handmade chocolates and figures in their bakery "The Patisserie" in Carrigaline in 1979. Five years later they set up their chocolate factory where all facets of chocolate making, from production of chocolate bars, chocolates and truffles, to their many unique shapes are done in-house.

Initially making high quality chocolate bars and figures for the wholesale market, their son Casey, who is responsible for retail development, felt that there was scope to introduce a greater variety of handmade chocolate using the extensive skills, traditional methods and recipes, and the wide experience of the chocolatiers.

In 2004, O Conaill Chocolate opened its dedicated chocolate shop in Cork City Centre to sell and showcase its products directly to the public whilst maintaining a select nationwide wholesale operation. Due to its unqualified success our shop is now is undergoing expansion to make it a more exciting and enjoyable destination for chocolate lovers everywhere.
